Inspection and approval of projects for public and private power supplies in Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein, such as:

• High-voltage cables
• High-voltage overhead lines
• Transformer stations
• Switchgear
• Converters
• Power generation plants
• Low voltage distribution systems in protected areas/conservation areas

Installations must meet the generally accepted rules of technology with regard to safety. However, inspections also take account of the concerns and interests of environment protection, nature and countryside conservation as well as spatial planning.

For high-voltage overhead lines and cables of 220 kV or more, an environmental compatibility assessment must be carried out. A sectoral plan procedure is also required.
